Biography
Dylan van Vliet (they/them) (b.1989) is a visual artist who lives and works in Arnhem (NL). From 2012 to 2017 they studied photography at De Fotoacademie in Amsterdam, where they graduated with honors.
Artist statement
My practice is driven by the urgency to express all that occupies my mind. In this, I move between the abstract and the literal to understand the complexity of being human. A questionable mind in search for meaning and intimacy.
Themes such as queerness, mental health and surviving sexual abuse strongly shapes my work. In an intuitive and fragmentary manner, I’m building an archive that allows my work to repeatedly enter into dialogue with each other.
